One DAY 2
Tonight was the second classroom night for Rider's Edge.
Tonight was a lot of fun and very educational. We started with a little
recap of the previous night, passing a little stuffed dinosaur around
and saying something that we learned and then reciting the chain of
possession of the dinosaur. Helped us to recap what we already knew, and
to remember who everyone is. There were sandwiches, chips, drinks, and
candy available so we all munched during this.
After that, we started off with a tour of the Harley dealership. Some
other people who have taken Rider's Edge have talked about how they felt
peeved at the blatant marketing, but it wasn't too bad at our shop. We
spent maybe 30 minutes touring the different departments (including
clothing for those last minute range necessities for tomorrow). They
even let us go back into the service bays. Then we were shown the
selection of bikes and told a little about each different model and the
differences. I learned some new things. We got to sit on them, see how
they felt, feel the difference in shocks and weight; so it was
educational as well as marketing.
Then we headed back upstairs to work. We would go over a unit in the
book, then watch a video. Then go over another unit, and watch a video.
We split the questions up and everyone took a turn answering. As things
came up we'd talk more in depth about one thing or another and everyone
would share their own experience. We also went through proper riding
gear and got to critique some examples from the shop; what to look for
in good gear.
We went through the range hand signals. We practiced where the controls
would be. It was all very interactive and fun, but we covered a lot of
material too. We all left tired, but excited about the range day
tomorrow!
It's supposed to be hot, so he warned us to take some ibuprofen tonight
and in the morning before we go, and drink plenty of water. Wish me luck
for the range! Can't wait! >> DAY 3
